Kersch Family | Adventure-filled Family Photos

This family photo session was a truly wonderful crossover event for me.

In my fab corner of Pennsylvania, I’ve had the privilege to work within some pretty stellar groups of friends and families. Someone meets me at a wedding, saves my name for “one day”, and then boom, I’m back with familiar faces catching up with past couples who are now a part of the wedding party, or cousins of the groom. You get it.

For Jimmy and Sunny, not only was this the case, but we also had a near miss! I’ve had the distinct pleasure of capturing some of life’s most significant moments for many people in Jimmy and Sunny’s circle. But when this lovely pair approached me to cover their big day in 2018, I was already booked solid.

So, even though I thought I’d missed my chance to zoom in on their love story, fate brought us back together, nearly seven years later (the very month of their wedding anniversary!) for me to capture the most darling family session with their son.

We made our way to Carousel Park in Wilmington, DE after Jimmy and Sunny stumbled upon this hidden gem. They knew it was destined to be the location for our session, especially since their little one had such a good time exploring it.

Carousel Park is an idyllic little slice of outdoor heaven that’s got everything: wooden fences to lean against, lush green fields perfect for those candid frolicking shots, and even a little pond that, I swear, looks like it’s straight out of a storybook.

I loved watching Jimmy, Sunny, and their son exploring all the nooks and crannies of the park, their laughter and joy echoing against the tree trunks.

With its lush greenery serving as our backdrop, we filled every frame with adventure as the three intrepid explorers poked around the flora and fauna, stoking their son’s curiosity. It was undoubtedly the perfect playground for outdoor family photos.

Now, parents will know that there’s a fine art to timing a photo shoot with a toddler. This 2-year-old bundle of joy, was in great spirits for our little session because his parents were well prepared with snacks We got the perfect window to harness that post-nap, pre-meal energy that small humans managed to radiate, making our family session a truly energetic and lively spectacle.

It’s a funny thing, time. It was as if the universe conspired for me to miss their wedding, only to lead me to this beautiful family session years later. Jimmy, Sunny, and their pint-sized superstar, were a joy to work with. Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to them for thinking of me after all these years. It’s genuinely such a privilege to be part of their evolving story, and I look forward to capturing more of their family’s special moments in the years to come.
