Enter here if you want to see joy. Foot tapping, exuberant, “it’s our wedding day!” joy. That’s what Emily and Ruben’s big day is to me.
These two were so fun to work with because they were so sweet, and so in to having the best time on their wedding day. That makes my job super fun, let me tell you.
I got to know them during their amazing engagement shoot at Pinnacle Point, which you can see here. They were so lighthearted and up for anything as we scaled the mountains. I was looking forward to their wedding back then, but it beat all my expectations on the big day!
Emily and Ruben were looking for an elegant and chic but bohemian wedding aesthetic, and Hotel Du Village was an excellent choice for creating that atmosphere. The carefully restored estate and boutique hotel has major French chateau vibes, and it gives ‘estate wedding’ but with a ton more character!
The more European architecture and rich woods looked beautiful with the couple’s neutral color palette of pale pink, burnt orange, sage green, and dark green. It was all earthy tones and warmth.
Emily’s dress was the perfect combination of boho and elegant too. That lace overlay on the sheath silhouette was absolutely gorgeous, especially with the train and the partial flower crowned up-do. Her ‘something blue’ heels were great icing on the cake.
I think Ruben thought so too because their first look was just the sweetest, complete with tears and cheering from the onlooking bridal party!
After an equally sentimental and laugh-filled ceremony in the manicured gardens of Hotel Du Village, the new bride and groom moved on to a straight up party! Emily and Ruben and their cadre of family and friends (some of which are professional ballet dancers like Emily), knew how to get down.
Against a reception space full of more candlelit and bespoke bohemian touches, the new Mr. and Mrs. celebrated their union with not a few whoops and hollers, and a whole lot of very obvious love.
Emily and Ruben, it was an absolute blast, and I had so much fun capturing your big day!
