I have to tell you, I absolutely love a couple that doesn’t take themselves too seriously. If you give it the opportunity, wedding days can be stressful. Full of timelines, expectations, big emotion, it can be a rollercoaster for the couple at the center of it all, no matter how prepared you are.
Enter Natalie and Drew, who were absolutely the picture of calm and collected. From beginning to end, this couple was so low-key and ready to take this day head-on that we all just felt at ease going along for the ride.
When I first got to speak with Natalie to go over the particulars of the day, this was something that she emphasized to me, saying “We are a laid back couple, and while our bridal party will be wearing black and tuxes, we want the general vibe of the night to be a chic but cozy dinner party with with lots of candle light and dried florals.” I mean, yes please. A cozy soirée with all the people you love most in the world? Sign me up!
And the more I got to know them, the more on brand it was for these two fantastic humans. They spend their free time trying new restaurants, and traveling to new destinations, no matter how near or far. Natalie told me that if there was an 8th day of the week, she and Drew would spend it hiking, trying new eateries, and then making sure they had plenty of time to binge watch reality TV. Sounds like a plan to me.
For their wedding day, the couple opted for a dark + neutral color scheme, with a little bit of burgundy and bronze to really showcase the industrial vibes of the venue, and Natalie’s gorgeous sheath dress and Drew’s velvet jack really underlined that classic but understated feel they embody. I also found it adorable that they were SUPER excited for their chosen live band, and looking forward to having all of their closest friends and family together in one spot.
Speaking to their big day, the couple wanted the day to not only “celebrate us, we also want to celebrate all of our friends and family in our lives. Having all of the most important people in the same place to eat, drink, and dance for a day seems really awesome.”
Awesome it definitely was. Natalie and Drew, thank you for letting me capture your easy-going love and this momentous day. I wish you all the best!
