… the couple seeing each other and completing the majority of photos prior to the ceremony. Most of the time, I highly recommend my couples consider this option and I’ll share my reasons with ya. Of course, I’d never want you to feel pressured to do a first look and the decision to do one is ultimately up to you. I’ve simply witnessed the benefits time and time again and want to share why most people love it.
I totally understand that wedding photography is an investment. Most of the time with a first look, you’ll get the most “bang for your buck” and have more photos of you two and your wedding party.
When we get a big chunk of your photos completed prior to the ceremony, that means you get to attend more of your cocktail hour! Without a first look, we’ll need to use that time for family photos, whole group wedding party photos, and photos of the two of you.
First looks allow you two to spend more time together on your wedding day. You’ll get to have relaxed one-on-one time! Otherwise, the photo time during cocktail hour may feel a bit rushed.
If I had a dollar for everytime a couple said to me, “I feel so much better now” after the first look, I’d have enough money to take us all out for margaritas. Weddings can definitely be nerve wracking, but getting to spend time together prior to the ceremony really diminishes those nerves.
