I’ve been with this couple for the long haul. Katelyn and Mike first came to me way back in 2019 when they were just starting to plan their dream wedding with plans for a big family extravaganza.
We started out nice and easy with a beautiful engagement session in DC, celebrating this exciting new chapter of their life.
But then, in the chaos of 2020, Kate and Mike made the decision to switch over to a micro-wedding, because sometimes you just can’t stand to wait any longer! These two wanted to be hitched, and my husband, Ryan, even officiated for them. We celebrated in intimate style with a close crew of their nearest and dearest.
One sweet, sweet baby later, these two, then new parents, finally got the big wedding day they’d always meant to have. They hosted a vow renewal at the Barn at Silverstone with their extended friends and family, and their sweet new addition. You can see that lovely day here.
All I can say is, don’t miss that lil’ baby in her wedding gear. The cutest.
Now, we fast forward to this past summer, where I got to participate in my first true family session with them. And they added another baby for me, hurrah!
I rounded up the sweet Majcen family to go frolic in Patapsco State Park in Maryland to see if we could get some frameworthy snaps of their fam.
Patapsco State Park makes for a stellar venue to capture family photo sessions by the way. The woodsy landscapes here provide a vibrant backdrop, perfect for capturing stunning photographs and adding a touch of nature’s beauty to every frame.
The park truly has some scenic views. From the rushing river to the towering trees, there are so many different spots for great photos. The park’s diverse environment really makes it fun for pictures. Whether you’re playing by the river, exploring the woodland trails, or just sitting together among the foliage like we did, it’s a great spot.
So we hauled two babes out to the woods and set about capturing this moment in Majcen Family History.
Shooting a family photo session with two young little girls is like juggling joy, mischief, and endless energy. It’s a wild adventure, not just a walk in the park (pun intended!). You’ve got to be light on your feet, capturing those spontaneous wonders, laughter, and oh-so-precious pouty moments too.
But it’s not just about beautiful backdrops; it’s about coaxing their authentic selves to shine. And when you snag that perfect shot? It’s like bottling a fleeting moment of childhood magic for a family to hold onto forever. Picture-perfect memories in the making!
It was so beautiful spending a lovely afternoon with this crew and marveling at how far they’ve come since I made their acquaintance all those years ago. This made 4 photoshoots, 2 weddings, 2 kids, and 1 happy photographer who got to go along on the journey.
Kate and Mike, I literally cannot wait to see what the next adventure holds for you!
