When it comes to weddings, every couple wants their special day to be a reflection of their personalities and taste. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing an engagement session at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania for a couple who wants their wedding to scream fun and unique. I’m in!
Haley and Andersen love spending time with their dog Ellie, hiking, and lounging on the beach. So when it came time to plan their engagement session, we brainstormed locations that would embody their love for nature. That’s when we settled on Longwood Gardens, a lush garden full of flora and fauna that would give us the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos.
On the day of the shoot, the weather was perfect, and the couple arrived dressed in casual-cute outfits in neutral tones that perfectly complemented the botanical setting.
We started by strolling through the gardens and letting them do their thing so I could get to know their chemistry and body language. For some couples, that’s calmly strolling hand in hand. For others, it might be playful razzing. When I come to understand your unique relationship, that’s when I can really capture those candid moments authentically.
As we moved around the space, I captured some sweet intimate moments as Haley and Andersen laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. I love that no two couples are the same, and it was special to capture how these two naturally interacted with each other.
One thing we had already discussed before the session was the couple’s vision for their wedding. They wanted a modern, chic vibe with plenty of white flowers, candles, and greenery. So, we made sure to incorporate some white flowers into the session to give them a taste of what their wedding day could look like. The results were fab, with the soft flowers and greenery looks magnificent in the glowy afternoon light.
I can’t wait to see what these two have in store for the big day. They’re were so easygoing and fun, and it really showed in their photos.
The session ended with some ditched high heels, a waterfall, and some golden hour shots that glowed in the beautiful evening light.
Andersen and Haley were a joy to work with, and I’m so excited to see what we can create together on their wedding day.
