When I get the chance to capture an engagement session for my couples, most of the time it’s long before the wedding day. We get to practice in front of, and behind the camera, get to know each other a little bit, and dream together about what that special day in the future is going to look like.
I first captured Eva and Jacob at their Kilgore Falls engagement session, which you can see here, nearly half a year before their wedding day.
I keep this image in my head of my couples from the moment we part ways, whether it’s after an adventurous hike, or a home session with their pup, or a stroll down an urban city sidewalk, and that sticks with me through the long wait.
And, even though we’ve kept in touch, when I pop back up months (or more) after our first meeting, with only an idea of what you wanted for your big day, sometimes I’m floored. And it’s the most fun feeling!
There are moments I cannot believe that this is the same pair of laughing, carefree people that scaled half a mountain with me, or popped a bottle champagne on a downtown rooftop. The transformation is so complete.
I really love the magic of a wedding day for that reason (among many others). It’s love with all the bells and whistles, polished up with creativity and flair.
Eva and Jacob’s wedding day at Parque Ridley Creek was a whole fairytale moment for me after a winter hike in the woods with these two.
It was packed full of whimsy, beautiful burgundy, blush, and sage accents, and the full gorgeousness of a Fall wedding at Parque. Eva had full princess vibes with her diamonds, beautiful long curls and delicate lace applique wedding gown.
Everything seemed so delicate, from the flowers girls swirling in layers of tulle, to artfully stringed cafe lights on a patio in a light rain, there was a hushed magical quality to the day.
Eva and Jacob, I am so glad I got to be part of the story, and watch you say your vows as confidently as I watched you scale mountains together.
