As weddings edge into the colder months, I LOVE the color palettes these late fall/early winter weddings take on. They’re so rich in texture and tone, and love capturing these deep colors that I don’t always get to see the rest of the year.
Case in point with Mary and Stephen’s glamor-filled Parque Ridley Creek wedding which was swimming in opulence. Mary is a graphic designer with an excellent eye for the artistic, and the aesthetic that she and Stephen landed on was absolute magic.
Their wedding was styled on the Dutch Golden Age in Art History, specifically focused on still life paintings. She gave me the examples of Balthasar Van Der Ast’s ‘Still Life of Flowers in a Glass Vase‘ or Willem van Aeist’s ‘Still Life With a Watch’, and wow if they didn’t nail it.
They incorporated a lot of rich blacks, deep jewel tones, and aged metallics with pops of bright and delicate creams and pinks, with an overall feel that they hoped could be described as lush, moody, opulent, and wild.
They decided on these themes to echo a dark Halloween feel without going kitsch, and with a dress code that was black-tie optional, they intended to make Parque a living oil painting.
A little moody, a little gothic, and a ton of style, Mary and Stephen were knockouts against the equally rich colors of Parque’s beautiful grounds. It was like a feast for the eyes, and I was not a bit sad about it.
Between the flowers, candlelight, and dark palette on top of Parque’s lush forest and rich wood paneling, it felt like an oasis made specially for Mary and Stephen.
I was thrilled to be a small part of this lovely day and I know the adventure is only beginning!
