Sometimes having an outdoor wedding in December in Pennsylvania can be a gamble. Will it snow? Will it be so cold our guests have icicles on their eyelashes? Am I going to need a parka over my wedding ‘fit?
It can be nerve-wracking, but when it pays off, oh boy, it pays off. Think twinkling lights, s’mores, fire-pits, and (faux) fur-lined wraps. The majesty.
Jacquie and Jared’s Terrain Gardens Devon wedding was the bet that won the house.
The couple choose the Anthropologie-created venue to have their intimate wedding with all the cozy holiday feels because Jacquie instantly fell in love with Devon location. Despite aiming for a winter wedding, she loved the feel of all the living plants and greenery, and some of the modern touches, and wanted to build on that outdoorsy vibe for their nuptials.
The idea of having Christmas touches like evergreens and stringed lights mixed in with their eucalyptus and rich color scheme of black, gold, winter whites, and rich burgundy accents seemed like the best of all possible worlds to Jacquie.
The day of their wedding was blissfully clear, if slightly coldcold, and Terrain sparkled like a Christmas diamond.
Jared in his wine colored suit, and Jacquie braving the cold in a sleek sheath silhouette dress, looked perfectly elegant against the creams and red of their florals and all the seasonal greenery that adorned the grounds.
Guests were treated to spiked hot apple cider and a roaring fire, and under twinkle lights and a flower-wrapped ceremony arch, Jacquie and Jared said their I-dos, surrounded by the family and friends whom they felt made an impact on their lives.
As a couple who professed to love the simple things in life, like slow easy mornings with good coffee, or a drive down to the shore, the couple reveled in simply being surrounded by loved ones in that magically slow week between Christmas and New Years where no one is in a hurry, and everyone loves an excuse to eat, drink, and celebrate.
I’m looking forward to more Terrain weddings in all of the seasons, and I can’t thank Jacquie and Jared enough for the privilege of capturing their cozy festive wedding.
